Description:

Yankton Minimum Unit is a minimum security correctional facility that houses approximately 281 adult males. This facility is operated as a satellite unit to the Mike Durfee State Prison. Inmates at the Yankton Minimum Unit can participate in community service projects, provide daily support services to the Human Services Center, and may be eligible for the work release program. The work release program allows inmates to report to a job in the surrounding community during the day and back to the prison at the end of their shift. This provides offenders with a higher level of responsibility and a financial foundation for their release
